Welcome to the biggest project I have undertaken!! (So far...)

Radio status as of August 3, 2004    I am attempting to restore a Zenith Transoceanic R-520/URR radio. All I had when I started this project was an original chassis, an original TM11-877 manual, a copy of the military instruction book, and the Zenith Trans-Oceanic, The Royalty of Radios book. My goal is to restore this radio to like new condition using as many original zenith parts as possible. So far I have restored the chassis and recovered an H500 cabinet with a brown leatherette material. The Dial bezel pictured is from a 600L series Transoceanic, and the wavemagnet is actually a repaired and painted gray wavemagnet from an H500.

Over the next little while you will notice some changes to this website as I move away from just the R-520 and adding restorations of other transoceanic radios as well. For starters, I have added pictures of Randy B's T600L restoration, and I will be adding information and pictures of my H500, 8G005, T600, 6G001, and soon a 600L as well. Feel free to send me any pictures and notes on any restorations that you have done.

SPECIAL THANKS: Jim P. for donation of parts, Mark P. and Randy B. for tons of info and pictures, and everyone else who provided pictures and information.

UPDATES: Added a Transoceanic Radio poll, please vote for your favorite radio (see below)

WANTED: One original brown R-520 knob. Pictures and any related documentation for the R-520 and R-520A.

Please e-mail me if you have any information, ideas, or parts for sale or trade for this project.

Thanks, enjoy this site, and please sign my guestbook!!
